This little tutorial is meant to guide you through the steps to get TeamSpeak up and running on your computer. It has both quick steps for people who are very familiar with their computer and a more in-depth explanation for those not so used to downloading and installing software. If you have trouble with any of the steps, don't hesitate to contact me via any of the following ways (as I'm located in Europe, you might want to avoid calling on the phone in the late afternoon of evening as that will very likely be in the middle of the night for me ;-) ):

I also had some screencasts created - they might be a little outdated with some details (in particular the Server Address is now ts.sambodha.org:9998, not ts.sambodha.org) but may still be useful to some:
So let's get started:
Quick instructions:
- Download and install the TeamSpeak client from www.teamspeak.com
- While you run through the setup wizard, you will be asked for "Microphone Settings" - on that screen, make sure to activate "Push-To-Talk" and set the Push-to-Talk button by clicking the button which says "No Hotkey Assigned" and then pressing the ctrl-key (or any other key you feel comfortable with - just don't use a key you usually hit while typing)
- Do not assign a key for "Speaker Mute". That's really not useful. If you accidentally have one assigned - click the button, and then hit the esc-key. Problem solved.
- Uncheck "Open public server list" and "Rent your own TeamSpeak server". We don't need that and it'll just be annoying and confusing;-)
- Finally, connect to our server using the menu "Connections / Connect" and then typing in the following data (this is really important, if you make any mistake here, it'll give you trouble):
Server Address: ts.sambodha.org:9998
Nickname: your spiritual name
Server Password: Lakshmi
Step-by-step instructions:
1. Installation of TeamSpeak
2. The Setup Wizard
3. Connecting to our Server - YAY!
Open your Web browser (on Mac, that will usually be Safari, on Windows, it'll probably be Internet Explorer or Firefox the latter being preferable) and type the address http://www.teamspeak.com into your address bar (or simply click on "www.teamspeak.com" ;-) ):
Here's a couple of screenshots (Mac/Safari, Windows/Internet Explorer, Windows/Firefox):

After typing the address, hit the enter / return key so the page is loaded. Look for the big green download button - this automatically shows the right download information, in my case it's the TeamSpeak Client for Mac OS X:

In case you do not see this green button on the site, it might be that the browser Window is to small - here's a full screenshot for your reference; you might have to scroll right and down to find the button. This is what the full page looks like (scaled down a bit, to fit ;-) ):

When you click that green button, you first have to agree to the TeamSpeak 3.x End User License Agreement. Simply scroll all the way down and click "I agree":

... scroll down and click on "I agree":

What happens when you click on "I agree" depends a lot on your computer and browser. If you have the option to directly Execute the installer, that would be fine (that might be the case with Internet Explorer). With Safari and Firefox there's a very nice feature (this is the reason I prefer those over Internet Explorer): The downloads manager. With that, it's very easy to find out where the download was stored. In Safari, you can open the download manager with this menu (there's many more entries in the Firefox screenshot below - but Windows doesn't let me easily take a nice screenshot, sorry):

This will give you a Window that looks a little like this - just double click TeamSpeak3-Client whenever the download has completed:

So now comes the installation. Let's start with Windows this time. Click here if you are on a Mac!
I'm doing this on Windows XP - things may look a little different for you on Vista or Windows 7. First thing I'm getting is a warning. Just click OK. It's really okay:

Ok, sorry for the German screenshots ... you'll have this in English but I can't easily switch on Windows ;-)

Click "Next" to see:

Click "Accept" to see:

Here, you can say "Install for all users" ... or "just for me" - whichever you prefer. Then click "Next":

Don't worry about the path. It's usually correct ... unless you're a computer wizard that has changed things. No worries, just click "Next" again, to see:

This probably says "Recommended: Store in My Files". And that's fine. Click "Next" again, to see:

Here, you can finally click "Install" ... without worrying what this is all about (I don't either ;-) ).
Now wait for a moment. Eventually, you'll see this screen on which you click "Exit" (or "Quit" or something like that):

You should now see the TeamSpeak 3 Client on your desktop:

And in your start menu under "all programs":

Click the icon in the start menu - or double click the icon on your desktop to startup TeamSpeak. You should then see the TeamSpeak 3 Setup Wizard. Which looks almost the same on Windows and Mac - so we continue with Mac (click here to get there).
So let me help the Mac users real quick - after double clicking TeamSpeak in the Downloads Window, you'll see this:

Click on "Agree" to see:

... now, this kind of sucks because everyone will double-click "TeamSpeak 3 Client" and think everything's fine. Wrong. Don't double-click it. Pull it into your Applications folder. In other words: Drag and drop it into your Applications folder. In other words: Click on TeamSpeak 3 Client, hold the mouse button pressed and while keeping it pressed, move the icon to the Applications folder. If you're lucky, you can click on the funny bubble on the right-top side of the Window (look in the Window bar, where on the left there's red, yellow and green buttons - on the right side, there's something grey that you can click) ... and you should see something like this):

There you have the "Applications" folder under "Places". If you don't have it there ... look for it in the finder (you can click on "Macintosh HD" if that's the name for you - if not, just try the different entries under "Devices"):

Now, in Applications look for TeamSpeak 3 Client:

Now drag and drop it into your dock:

Congratulations - DONE!!! Now click TeamSpeak 3 Client in the dock once, and the Setup Wizard comes up.
As you can easily see - these look pretty much the same on Mac and Windows. So we'll continue with Mac because that's where I have it in English:

First, click "Next" ... and you'll see:

Here you can enter your nickname (which is your spiritual name). Then click "Next":

Ok - this one is really really important. Make sure that "Push-to-Talk" is activated. Then click once on the button that says "No Hotkey Assigned". Then, press the ctrl-key on your keyboard (which assigns that as your push-to-talk key (kind of like a walkie-talkie). Here's a Windows screenshot of what this looks like (interestingly, I didn't manage to take a proper screenshot of this on my Mac ;-) ):

The control key is the lower-leftmost key on the keyboard. You could pick any key for this. Just remember it. It's the key that you have to press and keep pressed while you're talking. Which also means that it should not be a key that you frequently type while writing something on your keyboard (which would result in accidentally activating push-to-talk while typing ... which can be annoying for other people on the server).
This could now look like this or that (notice that it tells you which key you have pressed ... seems like on the Mac, the ctrl key is called command key):

Now you can click "Next" again.

On this screen, you can test your microphone. Click the "Start Test" button, push the push-to-talk key ... and talk. You should hear an echo - maybe even a feedback. If you don't ... phew ... that would suck. It would mean that you somehow have to fix your microphone. Or your speakers. Or both. If you are reading this, it might mean that you'll have to ask a tech girl or guy; I probably can't help you fix this one remotely (for this, it's really best to sit in front of the computer). So I hope it works for you. If you can at least hear that would be okay for the conferences, though. So don't worry too much.
Click "Next". And click "Next" again - because you don't want to set anything on this screen:

The reason: You really don't need a key to mute your speakers. There's an icon. That's enough. If you haven't done so, click next. Nothing to see here.

This one's a play-screen. Just do whatever you like here. Click whatever you like, except for Back - you don't really need to click that one. When you're done, click Next. This one is really important - so wait and look and read:

On Windows, there's another screen before this one (with "Overlay" and "Volume Control"). Just click next on that one, it's not an important one.
Make absolutely sure, that all these 3 checkboxes (Open bookmarks, Open public server list and Rent your own TeamSpeak server) are unchecked - like on the screenshot. If they are checked, you'll get useless Windows popping up at ya. You don't want that. Really. I've tried it. Nothing to see there, either. Once everything is unchecked, click "Finish". And you're done - congratulations!!!
Ok, thank you for your patience. When you are here - you're almost done. Use the menu "Connections / Connect":

Finally, enter the correct data into the following screen. Here's the data:
Server Address: ts.sambodha.org:9998
Nickname: your spiritual name
Server Password: Lakshmi

Make sure you don't miss anything here. If you do not enter our server ("ts.sambodha.org:9998") you'll end up on some other server where you know no one and no one knows you. You don't want that to happen. And neither do I. Once you click "Connect" you'll be online. And everything will be fine :-)
